The camera hole in the S10 has made our creative juices flow more than any other notch could. First, we saw wallpapers that served to camouflage the clipping or even to accentuate it. Now, if you want to go in the opposite direction and highlight the hole in the camera of your S10, there is an application that turns it into a circular battery meter.
As the name implies, the Energy Ring application overlays a battery status ring around the front camera cutout on the S10 and S10e for a unique and colourful appearance that will surely attract attention. It is not yet available for the S10 +, but support will arrive soon. You can change the colour, width and animations of the indicator to better suit your style. It is also worth mentioning that the application is very suitable for the battery, as its developer explains:
ENERGY RING SITS SILENTLY ON THE SCREEN AND PUTS ALMOST 0% OF THE LOAD ON THE CPU, IF YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY LEVEL, ANDROID REACTIVATES ENERGY RING. ONCE AWAKE, ENERGY RING UPDATES QUICKLY AND GOES BACK TO SLEEP. AND TO BE SO EFFICIENT, THE RING IS PUT INTO DEEP SUSPENSION WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE SCREEN, WHICH MEANS THAT IT DOES NOT EVEN READ THE CHANGES IN THE BATTERY LEVEL WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF.

Before starting, know that the application is still in its beta phases at the time of writing this article. You may encounter problems when opening the application to make adjustments. That said, if you do not mind some small setbacks, you already have your purpose perfectly.

Step 1: Install the Energy Ring Galaxy S10
First, you must download the Energy Ring application from IJP. The application is free to install, so go to the Play Store or simply touch the link below to put it in your hands, then press “Open” once it has been installed successfully and continue with the next step.
Step 2: Configure the Energy Ring
When you open the Energy Ring, you will go through a brief introduction and configuration process, so follow the instructions. Be sure to grant the necessary permissions, that is, access to notifications. After doing so, a coloured battery status ring will automatically appear around the cut of the camera on your S10.
Step 3: Customize the Energy Ring
The energy ring has many elements that you can modify for a more personalized appearance. The thickness of the battery ring can be adjusted by sliding the bar to the right under “Ring Thickness”. This way you can get your desired thickness.
Beyond that, it has the ability to “Automatically hide in full-screen applications”, which we recommend enabling to avoid distractions in games and videos. You can even select from many available animations, although the default “Linear” is already very good. You can also customize the colours of the battery ring by adjusting the colour bars in the “Color settings” section, along with the option to choose between different gradients for a more colourful appearance.
The energy ring works well enough and will reliably display a battery ring each time your S10 is turned on. However, the application is still in its early stages of development and has some errors.
The biggest problem we noticed was that the application was frequently blocked when making adjustments to the battery ring. This effectively limited our options to change the thickness of the ring and enable “Automatically hide in full-screen applications”, since everything else caused a block.
There are other aspects in which the Energy Ring can also improve. Especially the possibility that the battery ring is displayed on the screen Always-On of the S10, in the blocking screen or both. Despite these shortcomings, the app does a decent job of superimposing a highly visible battery ring on the cut-out of the phone’s camera. The App is worth a try so feel free to download and use it. We will make sure to publish an update once the application gets the improvements you need, so stay tuned.
